Leadership Team

Roberto Estrada founded HolaDoctor in 1999. His current responsibilities include overseeing the company, chairing the Board of Directors, leading relationships with investors and supervising the senior executives. From 1999 to the present, Mr. Estrada established and successfully grew an internet-based company through a very challenging and unpredictable period in the market.

From 1996-1999, he was President of Penta Resources, Inc., an export company involved in the Latin American paper and paint industries. From 1994-1996, Mr. Estrada was Vice President of Export Sales for Polar Minerals responsible for sales and marketing functions in all countries in Latin America. Prior to that, he held various positions at ECC International, most recently as Latin American Sales Manager.

Mr. Estrada is a native of Nicaragua and has traveled extensively throughout Latin America over the last twenty years. He has conducted business in most Latin American countries. Mr. Estrada received a BS in Chemical Engineering from Christian Brothers University in 1987 after which he received an MBA from Vanderbilt University in 1989.

Ms. Dean joined HolaDoctor in October of 2008 with 20 years of Healthcare technology and operations experience. Previously, Ms. Dean was Executive Vice President and Chief Technology Officer for Matria Healthcare Inc. In her role at Matria, she was responsible for the Technology Operations, Development, Client Data Processing, Product Management and Informatics Departments.

Joining Matria in 2005, Ms. Dean oversaw the technology that consolidates and integrates Matria’s client data sources. She was instrumental in leading the efforts to implement automation of data flow and pre-profiling of the data feeds to significantly reduce the overall cycle time from data receipt to member access by the counselors and clinicians.

Prior to joining Matria, Debbie was Senior VP of Research and Development for Quovadx, Inc., a leading healthcare integration company. While at Quovadx, she developed the premier eligibility and claims clearinghouse product that integrated the top clearinghouses such as HDX, WebMD, MedUnite, Proxymed and Medifax. Prior thereto, Debbie worked in data warehousing and client informatics reporting management roles with Medstat and Criterion Health Strategies growing small private companies into public entities.

Ms. Dean earned a bachelor’s degree in Health Services Administration from Arkansas State University.

Dr. Schroeder co-founded HolaDoctor in 1999 with Roberto Estrada. His current responsibilities include directing HolaDoctor’s research and consulting services.  Dr. Schroeder is an expert in global health and a former tenured Associate Professor at Emory University’s Rollins School of Public Health. Dr. Schroeder retains a faculty appointment at Emory in the Department of Global Health where he continues to teach.

Prior to Emory, Dr. Schroeder was a post‑doctoral fellow at Cornell University from 1992 to 1993. Between 1989 and 1991, he lived in Guatemala and worked for the Institute of Nutrition of Central America and Panama. Dr. Schroeder has worked throughout Latin America for more than two decades and is fluent in Spanish. He has received numerous honors and awards including a Future Leader Award (International Life Sciences Institute of North America, 1998), Professor of the Year (Emory School of Public Health, 1997), and a Fulbright Fellowship (Indonesia, 1985‑1986).

Dr. Schroeder received his PhD and MPH degrees from Johns Hopkins University in 1992 and a BA with honors and distinction from Stanford University in 1984. Dr. Schroeder is the author of a book and various articles. He has worked in or traveled to over 75 countries.

Dr. Lara-Pantin joined HolaDoctor in 2000. He is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of health & wellness programs and educational content. He retired as a full professor from the Department of Public Health in the School of Medicine at the University of Carabobo in Venezuela after spending over thirty years at the university. Since 1982, Dr. Lara-Pantin has been an adjunct professor of the International Program of the Department of Internal Medicine at the University of Miami School of Medicine, where he was also a clinical professor of the Department of Health.

In 1984, Dr. Lara-Pantin founded the Center for Nutrition Research at the University of Carabobo. He was president of the Latin American Society for Nutrition from 1991 – 1993 and was Secretary of Health and president and CEO of the Institute of Health for the state of Carabobo from 1994 – 1998. He has also received numerous national and international awards, including a gold medal from the Venezuelan Health Ministry.

Dr. Lara-Pantin was president of several Venezuelan National Research Council commissions, and has also been a consultant to United Nations agencies including WHO/PAHO, FAO and UNICEF. He received his MD from the University of Carabobo in 1964 and his M.S. in Nutrition from Columbia University.

Mr. Perez is responsible for the development and expansion of technology solutions for HolaDoctor.  He has over a decade of experience developing leading web sites targeting Hispanic consumers in the United States. Prior to his current role, Mr. Perez was the Chief Technology Officer of Goal.com North America, a leading web destination dedicated to the sport of soccer. During his tenure there, Goal.com grew from 80 million to over 270 million page views monthly, reached  10 million monthly unique visitors, and operated in 17 languages using open source technology.  Prior to Goal.com, Mr. Perez spent seven years at Univision Interactive Media responsible for overseeing Univision’s content management and other systems that powered Univision.com, the largest Hispanic Web portal in the United States.

Prior to entering the Dot Com space, Mr. Perez worked for the largest print conglomerate in the United States, Nation Wide Graphics, as their Director of Technology. There he created systems that enabled just in time printing and personalization of print materials for direct mail. He also created systems that managed inventories of printed materials.  Prior to Nation Wide Graphics, he worked for American Bankers Insurance (Assurant Solutions today) as a Systems Security Analyst. He focused on hardware and software encryption methodologies for securing the companies digital assets.

Mr. Perez earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Florida International University.

Cesar Zafra joined HolaDoctor in 2002. His current responsibilities include all aspects of financial management for HolaDoctor. Prior to joining HolaDoctor, Mr. Zafra worked for several years at Corporación Financiera del Valle, S.A., a multi-million dollar investment bank and financial corporation in Cali, Colombia, where he was involved in Retail Banking Operations from 1991-1994 and Corporate Banking from 1994-1997.

Mr. Zafra received a BS in Industrial Engineering from Universidad Autonoma in Cali, Colombia, and a dual MBA in Finance and Computer Information Systems from Georgia State University in 2001.
